In a health update, the hospital stated, “Mr. Rajinikanth was admitted due to a swelling in the main blood vessel leaving his heart (aorta). This was treated by a non-surgical, transcatheter method.”
Senior interventional cardiologist Dr. Sai Satish carried out the endovascular repair procedure. “Dr. Satish successfully placed a stent in Rajinikanth’s aorta to seal off the swelling. His well-wishers and fans can rest assured that the operation went as planned. Rajinikanth is stable and recovering well, and he should be able to return home in two days,” the statement added.
Respected in South India and elsewhere, the actor caused a great deal of anxiety among his loyal followers. Many celebrities and politicians have sent their best wishes for a quick recovery to him.
Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister tweeted, “Hospitalized friend Superstar Mr. @rajinikanth, I wish him a speedy recovery.”
Fellow actor Kamal Haasan also sent his well wishes, tweeting, “I wish my dear friend, Superstar @rajinikanth, who is hospitalized, a speedy recovery.”
Rajinikanth is expected to be discharged soon, following the successful procedure.
