In Dubai, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) is responsible for issuing Emirates IDs to both UAE citizens and expatriates, including those from India. Possession of an Emirates ID is mandatory for all UAE residents, facilitating access to government and other essential services.

Renewing an expired Emirates ID must be done within 30 days of its expiry, after which late fines are applicable. Renewal services can be accessed via the ICP website, ICP mobile app available on various platforms, or through authorized typing centers. Biometric details may need to be provided at an ICP service center.

Emirates ID renewal can be initiated between six months and one month before expiry for UAE nationals, while UAE residence visa holders must renew concurrently with their visa renewal or reissuance.

As of May 2024, the Emirates ID renewal fee remains unchanged. The fee structure includes AED 100 for card issuance (valid for five years), AED 150 service fee, AED 30 typing center fee, and AED 150 for urgent service fees processed at customer happiness centers.
